(1) Check whether the button has "overflowed" to the > button near the end of the bar. See: Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars. You'll likely want to open the Customize tab for these. Please check the following article for more information on this issue and enabling your extensions to run in private windows: Extensions in Private Browsing. If you are browsing in a private window but the extension does not have permission to run in private windows, the button may not appear. Some reasons an extension toolbar button might not appear even if the extension is enabled on the Add-ons page: Read Aloud should be in the first list ("Enabled"). On the right side, find the "Manage Your Extensions" heading. In the left column of the Add-ons page, click Extensions. type or paste about:addons in the address bar and press Enter/Return."3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons.You can check the Add-ons page, Extensions panel, to make sure the extension is enabled there. But it seems there is a bug in Firefox as well, as I have no idea why it sometimes enables speech-dispatcher after browsing for a while (sometimes it takes hours seems it often happens after or while I'm visiting YouTube).Hi Robert, is it this one that should have a little megaphone icon? That is partly a problem with pipewire, which is discussed in Bug 1925810. Only way to make it stop: restart firefox. The speech-dispatcher according to pw-top continues to run, even if I close all tabs and disable all extensions at run time a "about:performance" doesn't provide any hints what might cause this. Here firefox (or something in Gnome 40?) sometimes spontaneously seems to enable & use speech-dispatcher for some unknown reason leading to unnecessary CPU load.
